As shown throughout my webpage the vampire phenomena has taken over the lives of people everywhere. The obsession with vampires has concerned people in the Christian community since vampires are seen as being evil and devil-like. Throughout my topics on Dracula, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Twilight and The Vampire Diaries I have shown elements within each work of either good, bad or both the good and bad aspects of each.Within all four topics there was something negative to find among the show or movie in the eyes of Christians, either that being, homosexuality, violent relationships or sexually explict content. All of these examples bring up controvery with both Christians and parents while allowing young people to engage in watching such influential content, setting bad example of how life really is and what it is not. These shows and movies show people how vampires can be good and attractive and inviting, almost as if trying to convert the viewers into becoming fans of vampires and to believe that they are the good guys. I will admit that I do enjoy watching vampire shows and movies, it is because of this interest that I decided it would be interesting to research on religion and vampires. After doing research and reading many articles and chapters of books regarding the controversy with vampires and religion and the obsession that people have with vampires helps me realize and understand the viewpoints coming from other Christians and parents. A lot of content these days in televison and movies are expressed sexually or violently, it just so happens that shows and movies with vampires contain both types of content. Overall, it is hard not to have shows or movies that express some type of concern for Christians, as shown with my research there is the good and the bad, but as long as people show interest in vampires the shows and movies will always be around.
